How much do you remember about our encounter with Ignatius? The first one, when we were all in the hallways, with yourself, myself, Hiragi, Jasper and the rest?

Hmm... that time... [he thinks for a moment, humming, then answers;] He said he was lookin' for someone, didn't he? Someone who would betray the Carnival? Lapis, I think. Then he said if someone gave themselves over to 'im, he wouldn't kill the rest of us. [he scoffs] Such charity.

He was true to his word, though, [ Strange points out. ] But thank you. I didn't trust my memory on that whole Lapis business so the Nightrunners are confirming it with others.

Yeah, well. He didn't lie, I guess. But I don't consider it a kindness. [he hates Ignatius less than some others in the Carnival, but he is spiteful about that bit at least] ... Do ya really think Lapis would do it?

Absolutely.

[ fun fact! Strange fuckin hates Lapis ]

She's made no secret that she hates it here, she loathes the Ringmaster, and she doesn't give a damn about anybody in the carnival aside from Steven and Peridot. I'm certain that she'd sell us all out if she has the chance.

Yikes. I had no idea about any of that. [he doesn't pay the best attention to things that don't directly involve him] Maybe the Ringmaster should just send her home, then.

Or put her in a hole in the ground, one.

I wouldn't say no to that, [ Strange responds, with a little laugh. ] Things have gone from bad to worse. We can't afford to have anybody in the carnival who doesn't care about the well-being of others here.

I'm sort of surprised, ta be honest, that when she made that announcement about not trickin' folks into contracts anymore she didn't also offer to send anyone who wanted to get out of here home.

Why would she? After all, they still have a contract to uphold.
